2005 North Central Area Championship Regatta

Hosted by Hobie Fleet 84 – Saylorville Lake, IA

 

Location: Saylorville Lake, Des Moines, Iowa, Cherry Glenn Boat Ramp.

8-10 miles north of I-35/80 on Highway 415, and 6 miles west of I-35 North at Ankeny Industrial Exit (Oralabor Rd/ Hwy 415).

Friday, August 19th

 

Youth Regatta

 

    * 9:00 am – Youth Race Skipper’s Meeting – Big Creek Lake – parking lot

    * 9:30 am – Youth Race Skipper’s meeting morning session – Big Creek Lake (northeast side of lake, 10 mins North of Saylorville)

 

North Central Area Championships

 

    * 7:00-9:00pm Regatta Registration at upper parking lot of Cherry Glenn boat ramp.

 

Saturday, August 20th

 

    * 9:00 to 10:00 am – Regatta Registration in the upper parking lot of Cherry Glenn boat ramp.

    * 9:00 to 10:00 am – Brunch – upper parking lot

    * 10:00 am - Skippers Meeting – upper parking lot

    * 11:00am – First class warning signal

    * 6:00pm - Dinner & Hobie Reunion Party at Shelter!

 

Sunday, August 21st

 

    * 8:00am – Breakfast - Upper Parking Lot

    * 9:00am - Skipper's Meeting

    * 9:30am – First class warning flag

    * 12:30pm - Lunch and Awards.

    * 1:30pm – Head home

 

Attendance: Anyone who sails a Hobie sail boat or individuals who would like to crew for someone are welcome to attend. We expect a turnout of approximately 80 sailors.  At least one person on the boat must be a member of the Hobie Class Association.  If you don’t have a membership, you can sign up on site.

 

Registration:

 

The below fees included Friday evening refreshments and fun; Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments throughout the day, and more fun; Sunday breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and still more fun; fun, entertainment, racing on Saturday and Sunday, chase boat support if you turtle, and a chance at some mighty fine trophies. Include the following information: Skipper’s name, mailing address, phone number, boat length (H14, H16, H17, H18, H20, H21), and a check for appropriate amount made out to “Hobie Fleet 84”.    If you have a Division regatta handbook, use the form in the back; otherwise just send the information in a note.

 

 

Camping/Lodging:

 

Fleet 84 has reserved a loop at Prairie Flower campground.   Hobie sailors/campers can pay for their individual camp site at the campground entrance booth when they arrive.  The campsite fee is not included in the above Regatta fee.   However, the campsite fee does include free access to the boat ramp, keep and display your receipt.   Those not camping will need to pay a daily or annual boat ramp fee.

 

We welcome and encourage all sailors and their families/friends to camp at the Prairie loop reserved by Fleet84.

 

Hotel accommodations are available in Ankeny and the Des Moines area.
